Transatlantic Security one week before NATO’s Madrid Summit

You can also watch the meeting here:

The Norwegian Atlantic Committee in cooperation with Civita is pleased to invite you to a seminar on the future of transatlantic relations.

In one week, NATO leaders are gathering in Madrid to adopt a new Strategic Concept for the Alliance, agree on Swedish and Finnish NATO membership and the way forward for NATO in a new security environment labelled “a new normal” by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine has indeed been a turning point in the post-Cold War security order and the ongoing Great Power competition has brought Euro-Atlantic security back at the top of the international agenda.

To discuss these great changes in our security order we are pleased to welcome Harvard Professor Stephen Walt, who is the Robert and Renee Belfer Professor in International Affairs at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. He is a renowned expert on foreign affairs and belongs to the realist school of thinkers in international relations. Together with him on stage we have invited Lieutenant General (Ret.) Arne Bård Dalhaug, who after retirement served three years for the OSCE in Donbas in Eastern Ukraine. He has a long carrier in the Norwegian Armed Forces, as well as in NATO both as the Norwegian Military Representative to the NATO Military Committee, and as the Commandant at the NATO Defense College.

The seminar will be moderated by the Secretary General of the Norwegian Atlantic Committee, Kate Hansen Bundt.

There will be served a light breakfast.
