Civita breakfast in cooperation with the Oslo Freedom Forum Tuesday May 27th from 8.00 to 9.00 am.

Civita breakfast in cooperation with
the Oslo Freedom Forum Tuesday May 27th
from 8.00 to 9.00 am.

How did the Republican Party (GOP) become the party of Donald Trump? Is the GOP still a conservative party in the tradition from Edmund Burke, or has the party moved in an authoritarian direction? Will the GOP eventually stand up to Trump, or will it facilitate an end to the Republic? Is it possible for the GOP to rediscover its roots?

Keynote speaker is Jay Nordlinger, a senior editor of National Review (NR), founded by William F. Buckley Jr. in 1955. NR is broadly known as “the flagship journal of American conservatism.” Mr. Nordlinger, a conservative, was a member of the Republican Party from his college years until 2016, when Donald Trump was nominated for president.

He is joined by Research Professor at PRIO Henrik Syse. Syse is a former member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, and co-editor of the book «Konservatisme».

The event is a cooperation with the Oslo Freedom Forum.

Place: Brød & Sirkus, Tordenskjoldsgate 3, Oslo.
