The American dream is the ideal by which equality of opportunity is available to any American willing to work hard. However, according to a new study by researchers at Stanford, Harvard and Berkeley, the American dream is in crisis, as only 50% of people born in the 1980`s are making more than their parents, compared to 90% of children born in 1940. Rising inequality and lack of social mobility has questioned whether or not the American dream is still alive. Is there a way to create more opportunities for all Americans, including disadvantaged families? How should policymakers respond to rising inequality?
